Funding pressures, resource availability and an expanding population have made procurement increasingly difficult, and in this report, Lucy Siegle investigates how SCAPE has been helping the public sector improve their assets, infrastructure and estate.

Produced for the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Annual Seminar in Londonderry, "Promoting Excellence" is a news and current affairs-style programme that explores the future of frontline local government services and examines the role that local authorities play in building sustainable communities.

APSE are dedicated to promoting excellence with their extensive network of 250 local authorities and support new initiatives that are relevant to current legislation and best practice.

This film features the £30m expansion of the BioCity complex in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, which was procured via the SCAPE National Major Works framework and delivered by Willmott Dixon. The regeneration of BioCity will provide much needed high-quality research laboratory space and offices, creating over 200 jobs. This programme illustrates the efficiency, speed and sustainable economic impact that can be achieved when using SCAPE procurement frameworks.

We would like to extend our thanks to BioCity Nottingham, Nottingham City Council, Warwickshire County Council, Derby City Council, Willmott Dixon, Bonham and Berry and of course, Nathan Taylor one of the apprentices onsite for their contribution to this production.
