At present, the UK builds around half the number of homes needed each year. Targets call for 300,000 new homes a year, while actual figures are closer to 160,000 being built. The National Housing Federation in England has also stated there is a need for 90,000 new social rented homes a year, but currently, only 5000 are being built. In addition, we need to ensure that the existing residential housing stock is properly maintained and that empty dwellings are brought back into use.
SCAPE and our delivery partners are fully able support the needs of Councils, ALMOs, and Housing Associations in the delivery of affordable, sustainable residential housing. This is the case whether the need is for investment, design, project management, asset management, construction, maintenance and renewal of the places in which our communities reside.
In the last 5 years we're proud to have helped Bristol City Council deliver their largest residential scheme using MMC; have supported London Borough of Hounslow to directly deliver their first extra care scheme; have created student accommodation for Teesside University's Campus Masterplan; and have helped Warrington Borough Council to tackle the shortfall of affordable housing across the borough.
We are really pleased with how the Doncaster build programme is progressing. The workmanship is excellent and the dedicated team is great to work with.
